The other side of the world... day 3

This morning was our SDA appointment. That is where you go and they tell you what they know about your child, and basically ask you if you still want him. LOL We learned that he was abandoned at birth. He has a sister who was born in 1994. His parents terminated parental rights immediately. We’ll learn more once we talk to the orphanage doctor, I’m sure.

I’m telling you, I’ve gained a new respect for the work that these people do for us. Serge for instance works for RR and another organization with the adoptions. They are only allowed to submit ONE dossier per week for each organization, which means that to get our 3 – 4 per week submitted, it take 3-4 DIFFERENT people to do the submissions. So it’s not like he or Yulia, or whoever can carry in a stack and say “Here, these are the ones for this week”. Interesting.

We did a little shopping on the street outside of the SDA too. I got a set of the stacking dolls (ok, what are those things called!?) for Olivia that has Hello Kitty on them! She LOVES HK right now. We weren’t going to actually buy anything today but we saw those and had to. Matryoshka nesting dolls! That’s the name of them. hehe

We still aren’t sure when we’ll be heading to Timothy’s region. We have to pick up paperwork tomorrow at 3:30ish. So, they will either put us on the night train tomorrow night, or wait until over the weekend. I would sort of like it to be tomorrow so that we could take some time and explore a little of his city over the weekend before we settle into the visitation schedule next week.

Today we are spending the rest of the afternoon/evening in. We walked a million miles yesterday, and between that and the traveling, we are ready for a day of “rest”. Unless a better offer comes along! LOL

I have a couple of photos today, but I’ll wait and post them later (they are just buildings, nothing fun or exciting).
