The other side of the world...day 17

First, I want to say thank you. Thank you to all who have prayed for our little “crisis” today. Thank you for giving. And especially thank you to God for His provision once again. We have the money we need to cover John’s driver back to Kiev (without taking it from what is left here with me). He will make his flight, and he will be home with our other children before bedtime on Friday. THANK YOU!

Tonight’s visit was interesting. We couldn’t go outside because it was too wet, it’s been raining off and on all day. We went up to our little area and I showed him a couple of “new” things that I had brought (I’ve been rotating the stuff I brought to try to keep him guessing what is in the bag). I also got some playdough today.

Ohhhhh my… let’s just say I have a feeling there’s gonna be a Nanny trying to chew me out tomorrow. LOL Timothy actually ATE some of the playdough!! It wouldn’t be so bad, but it was red/pink! LOL I can just see the horror when they see it “return” and try to figure out what it is! Ewww!! Note to self… no playdough until we get home… LOL

After a little while another little boy from his groupa came up with his Mama (we assume). They had some lego blocks like ours, and Timothy joined right in playing with them. LOL He shared his toy cellphone, and his magna doodle with little Maxim too.

I got a little misty when I watched them playing, and him playing with the other Mama though. He was so animated, and so adorable, of course, he is with us too, but the difference was that she spoke his language. She could talk to him, and he understood. I realized then how tough the next chapter in our story is likely to be.

I don’t let the language barrier keep me from talking to him. I whisper things in his ear, when we are playing, I say the English word for the toy, when we look at his photo book, I say it in his language and in English. I know he’ll learn, in fact, he will likely forget his native language pretty quickly since no one in our home speaks it. That makes me a little sad. Not sad about taking him home, or teaching him English, but sad that we will likely have much frustration before things get better. We’ll both learn together. I do know that no matter what language we speak, I love this little guy.

Playdough...

Don't worry... it's a pretzel stick he's eating here! I really just shared this to show you his wild hair from today! He must have been standing on his head during his nap or something! LOL

Playing with Max... watching them makes me think of how great he'll fit in with the kids at home! I can't wait!!

  2. My sensory child... I still can't keep play-dough out of Isabel's mouth! Thankfully, she gets to do it often at school, and they use a home-made "safe to eat" version! Praise the Lord for His provision, too!

  5. Timothy sounds like such a character. What a little sweetie! How fun to get to see him interact with the other family.

Are you familiar with the 80's band Flock of Seagulls? That is what Timothy's current hairstyle reminds me of.

I was planning on bringing Play-doh as well. Now I know to keep an eye on any potentially nibbling. I have every intention of bringing the same amount of Play-doh home with me, as I bring there.

Praying for your court appointment. I can't wait to hear how it goes.
