The other side of the world: Daddy's side
The whole experience was, how should I say, Surprising. From the very beginning, I knew was headed for the most incredible ride of my life. From the low places, where we would think that this whole adoption process would never take off from the ground, to the highest of places, the moment Timothy walked in the room for the first time. Who knew that this little four year old boy from so far away could turn our lives and faith upside down? This experience has taught me more about God’s incredible love that my faith has been growing and growing ever since I saw that photo on that web site.
God has a way of showing you how much He loves you by putting love for a little boy that you don’t even know in your heart. This truth I’ve always known: You don’t divide love among your children, you multiply it. So, He multiplied mine to include Timothy.
Timothy is a healthy little boy who has Down syndrome. He has some other minor conditions that can be cleared up back in the U.S. He has all kinds of energy and speed that I can hardly keep up with. He’s a typical boy. He is rather small for his age but we will take care of that too. I can’t wait till this whole thing is over and done with, and he is home safe and sound. Where he can run all he wants, go wherever he wants, and do whatever he wants (within reason, of course). I can’t wait to see what he wants to be when he grows up, to see what a fine addition to our family he has become.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 That verse has been ringing in my ears since all this started.
Who knew that I would love a little boy, from thousands of miles away, before I even knew him? God did.
