It’s so good to be HOME!!!
We were picked up at 3 am from the apartment, and I managed to get us out of there without waking anyone else up!! Got an email from Cathy, and she said that they didn’t hear a thing. Whew!
When we got to Germany, I was walking along, minding my own business, and a woman came up to us and said "Mel?" Ummm... Ok... I'm in GERMANY people, and someone knew me? I just sort of looked at her, and said "Yes". She said, "I'm Katrina". Oh my!!! I was SO excited!! Katrina is a very special RR friend (they are ALL special!!) who has been so supportive in praying for us, and God has blessed me through her SO much! I was thrilled to get to meet her and her hubby!!! They were coming back from their first trip to Russia to meet their little boy Josiah. I got to see pics and video! He is SUCH a doll!!

Timothy did AWESOME on all of the flights and in the airports too!! He slept on the planes, and we were VERY lucky with seat companions too! LOL Although, I will admit that he grabbed just about anyone who went by him (he had an aisle seat on the long flight). Good thing they thought he was cute. LOL
He loved the stroller, so that kept him contained in the airports during layovers. In Chicago though, he got away from me and I tripped. I was literally flat on the floor, and he just kept moving. No one even tried to help. As soon as I could get up, I went after him. Some nice (insert eye roll here) person said, “He went that way”. Well, gee, thanks, you couldn’t have grabbed him?! Ugh! Thankfully, all turned out fine.
We got to the airport and John and the other kids were there, and my best friend Stacey and her son Drake, and a very good (new) friend Kim and her son Joe were there too, with balloons and a banner.
After we got something to eat, we headed for home (we live about 80 miles from the airport). We stopped at Wal-mart for some bananas and some yogurt because I knew he likes those things.
Once we got home the little ones took a bath and then we basically collapsed into the bed. LOL
This morning we all got up and headed to church. Everyone was so happy and excited to see us. Lots of hugs and “welcome home” wishes. John and the praise team did a special, “God is in control” the old Truth song. That song got me through some rough days in the last few weeks. I cried (betcha didn’t see that coming, did you? LOL).
After church, another trip to Wal-Mart for some essentials. I missed Wal-Mart, ok?! LOL We ran into several friends there, and everyone was so excited to meet Timothy.
I have to tell you, it’s so odd to be back home. I guess it’s more odd to have been gone so long, I feel like I missed a lot. The rest of the afternoon was spent cleaning and unpacking. We had a few visitors who of course all loved the little dude too. He’s not a fan of our dog. She is very docile and getting old, so she doesn’t do much more than lay around, but he’s happy to throw things at her, and yell at her. I think I’ve seen her roll her eyes at him. hehe
The other kids are very happy to have us home, and Olivia is just enthralled with him. She’s already very protective of him. It’s sweet. John’s feeling a little left out I think, Timothy is clingy with me. I’m sure it’s all the craziness, and the newness, etc.
Ok… two littles didn’t get a nap today, and Mama is exhausted too, so that’s it for now! I PROMISE some pics tomorrow!! I need to get our airport pics from Stacey.
Welcome Home and thank you for giving us all an update... go get some rest... God Bless !!

How wonderful to know you are home! I didn't understand true homesickness until I was in another country. True, it is worth it to all of us (adoptive parents) to find our children. But we are ready to be home. And we've only been here for 9 days.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you two are home safe and sound and that everyone seems to be adjusting well. I can't wait to see pictures!

Welcome Home! I'm sure right now, there's no place like home! Now, life can begin for your new family. Best Wishes always. Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to the good old "US of A!" I'm so happy to be home. I would have kissed the ground if I'd gotten the chance. Sounds like you were closer to kissing it than I was!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your little guy. We're all enjoying our new little people here. Have fun!
YAY!!! Congrats! glad you are home and that cute little Timothy is now in his forever home with a family.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Home!!! You did it Mel, You did it!! By the way Ian is also afraid of our dogs and yes he still tries to touch people as they walk by to say hello. The boys will have to meet one day. They spent years together (day and night). I showed Ian Timothy's picture and he said a mouthful and was excited. I wish I knew what he said but it was good by the smile on his face. Hugs
