Sunday Already!

Wow, the weekend just flew by!!  After church today, we came home and visited with a friend who’d stopped by to meet Timothy for a bit.
I made another apple pie since the one we had for Thanksgiving was GONE in a matter of seconds.  hehe
I also made my first batch of “cranberry bliss bars” of the season.  YUMMY!!
While the little ones were napping, we put the tree up.  It’s just got lights on it for now.  It’s a pre-lit tree, but I added two more strands of lights (LOVE lights!).  I wanted to make sure Timothy wasn’t going to try to climb it or swing from it before we add the decorations.  LOL   He doesn’t really seem to care that it’s there though, so maybe we’ll decorate it tomorrow evening.  We’ll see.
He is still doing really well.  He just LOVES anyone who pays him attention.  He is very willing to hug on just about anyone who wants one.  He’s such a snuggly little guy when he wants to be.  We’re doing better with the throwing things.  Some days are better than others.  Today was the first time he grabbed my glasses and threw them in about 4 days, so that’s something.  LOL  We are still having a problem with him wanting to hit, or pull the dog's tail.  Molly is a pretty dosile pooch but doesn't like to be messed with when she isn't in the mood.
He’s still doing well with sleeping. He does try to get up two or three times after we put him down but then he gives up and stays in bed.   This morning he woke up and came up on our bed to snuggle.  SO dang sweet & cuddly!!  Olivia joined us a little while later, I’m just so blessed!
I snuck some turkey in on him tonight.  hehe  He figured me out after about 3 bites though and that was it.  He is doing pretty well with trying new things though, and his tummy is handling it well because he’s been really “regular”.  LOL
I’ll be making some phone calls tomorrow to get his appointments set up.  General practice doc first and then see where we go from there.  I’ll also call the eye doc and get him an appointment.  Although, I’m not sure how that will work since he doesn’t understand & can’t speak to tell them the symbols, etc.  Maybe I’ll wait and get that checked in Iowa City too.  I’ll be making that call in the morning too.
Ok… here are the pics from yesterday & last night.  Kati’s hair cut & the parade pics…

She's been growing it for about 3 years!!

Chrissy practically had to SAW it off because it's so thick!

The deed is done!

She looks like a TOTALLY different girl!!

11 inches!!

Kati's donation to Locks of Love!!
Waiting for the parade to start!  The people at the bookstore passed out noses to all of the kids!

I can't believe he left it on for so long!  He just giggled and giggled!!

Watching for Daddy to go by in the Fire Truck!

  1. Mel: have you read a lot on the bonding process after adoption? While we as parents are excited when our new kids "go to anyone" it's actually detrimental to bonding with you. It's almost like you have to limit his exposure to other people for a while so he knows he's not "parent shopping..." We love for them to be charming and have other people oohh and ahh over them but a lot of people recommend kinda keeping to your own family for a few months to establish a relationship as a parent. I'm sure you've probably read about all that but I just thought I'd mention it... Having been down that road 4 times now.. :) Glad he's doing well... :)

  4. HEy Mel.. for the eyes.. you may want to consider bringin him to Des Moines, to Wolfe Eye Clinich. They may be one in Mtwon too.. but they have a wonderful peds doctor and they just have him match the symbols. no reading. plus.. you might get into a study to have his glassware paid for!! We did for Nevaeh...
