Thanksgiving 2010

What is there to be thankful for this year?

Gee… where to start?

I’m thankful for my faith, and my God.

I’m thankful for John, who despite lots of ups and downs has stuck with me for almost 19 years. It truly has NOT always been rosy, and he really should have hightailed it out of here a long time ago.

I’m thankful for my children. For Joey who now wants to be called Joe, but will always be my little Joey, my smart, interesting, sometimes frustrating (hehe), firstborn. For Kati, my musician(she gets that from John for sure!), my helper, my crazy wonderful oldest daughter. For Olivia my sweet little attitude filled mini-me. And for our newest addition, although older than Olivia, he is my littlest (in size only hehe) blessing, Timothy who I couldn’t love more if I had grown him myself.

I’m thankful for the journey that God sent us on to bring home Timothy. I’m thankful for His continued provision, and faithfulness to take care of us during that journey, and the days to come as we figure out our little Ukrainian firecracker. Even in the dark days and there were several, He was with us.

I’m thankful for my family. For the support that my Mom gave us throughout the craziness of the last few months. It was very difficult for her, and many things happened, and for that I’m sorry, but I’m incredibly blessed.

I’m thankful for my friends. Oh my, God has blessed me richly with friends. I can’t even begin to list all of the blessings that He has given me in my friends. I have learned so much over the course of the last few months from my friends. God has blessed me with many new ones, and many who I’ve known for years. I have learned that the saying is true “God put people in our lives for a reason, whether it is for just a season or longer”.

A few highlights from today.

Got up early to get things cooking. Took a little trip to Kmart to check out their TGD sales. Picked up a few things. I like this going early thing, the goodies aren’t as picked over! Picked up a newspaper (you know, for the ads!! hehe).

Very happy to report that the turkey was moist, the mashed potatoes were lumpy, and the gravy wasn’t! The dressing was a little dry but with some gravy, yummo!

While I was cooking and getting things ready to put on the table, I had already put the cranberry sauce out and Olivia got a look at it and asked “Are there crans in the cranberry sauce?” Crans being CRAYONS!! Hehe She is just WAY too funny & adorable these days!! While we ate she had to put her corn and potatoes and gravy together, “Because it is just very yummy that way Mom”. hehe I LOVE doing that!! I noticed though that before she did that, she ate all of the gravy off of the top of the potatoes, hehe , my mom does that too! LOL

Timothy loved the mashed potatoes. He had them ALL OVER his face. I couldn’t get a good pic of those though. He also liked the sweet potatoes, and the cranberry sauce! I was shocked at that one. Of course, he ate a yeast roll too. My little carb boy! LOL

It’s been a quiet day, cooked, ate, cleaned up the kitchen, looked through the Black Friday ads and plotted my course for tomorrow. Wal-Mart is changing things up a little this yr by having all of the “deals” start at midnight o one on everything but the electronics stuff. So, maybe a trip to WM is in the cards for this evening… hehe

First though… PIE!! Oh, and pics! lol
