Today is Embassy day. Not sure exactly what we have to do at the Embassy, but we’re headed there in about an hour. After that we need to do Medical appointments (a little check up for the visa). Tomorrow is Visa day.
We are sort of hoping to be able to go to the street where the SDA is so that we can shop a bit in the vendor area. There were some really sweet things there, souvenirs to take home. It’s funny, we went there the day that we were at the SDA but I had no real idea what would be important to buy that day. I did pick up one thing. LOL I want to go back though, so hopefully we’ll be able to today or tomorrow. I also need to load up on some chocolate to take back for my family.
There’s really not much else to tell today. We gave Timothy a bit of melatonin(half of the recommended child sized dose) last night to see how it would work for him. He was already sooooo sleepy but just wouldn’t settle down. Worked like a charm, he went to sleep and stayed asleep all night. I let him go to sleep on the bed, and then moved him to the floor to the pallet I made for him after he was asleep. I had him boxed in so he wouldn’t be able to go anywhere, and I slept on the side of the bed that was next to him in case he woke up.
I’ll do a small load of laundry today so that it hopefully has time to dry before we leave eeeeearly Saturday morning (5:35 flight! ACK! hehe).
Sitting here typing(offline), he is being his little destructive self. We are in our room with the door closed so he’s contained. LOL He has a bad habit of throwing things, and slamming doors/drawers. Joey used to do that. He would just open them and shut them, just to hear them slam. LOL Timothy does it for my reaction. I don’t give him one though, unless like just now it is a glass cabinet door. I fixed him though, a hair scrunchy around the knobs, poof, it won’t open anymore. hehe
He is eating well, and hasn’t been sick. Although, he hasn’t pooped since we were on the train. I know, TMI, but this way I can look back and remember. LOL
Later:
As if I needed more stress…
Waaaay back when John left, he sent me some documents that I HAVE to have to be able to get Timothy’s visa. He sent them priority first class, whatever through USPS(DON’T MAKE THIS MISTAKE!). For the last three weeks we have been checking to see if they got here yet. Nothing…
So, Marina said just have him scan them and email. Ok, so we did. I also saved it to thumb drive, which of course they took from me before I even went in. No electronics allowed. No problem.
I filled out the papers, and gave them to the lady. No problems. I asked about the forms from my husband. They have to be originals, email won’t work. Ummm… ok. “What if I don’t have them?” ”You will not get a visa for your son.” Yep, this means WE CAN’T LEAVE! She was very nice, offering to make an appointment for us for Monday, or Tuesday to give him time to re-send them, etc. I didn’t cry. I politely thanked her after my little interview, and went outside. THEN I cried.
Cathy has been saying all along that she would be the one with issues getting out of here, and instead, we’re taking turns. LOL She was as crushed as I was.
Jenny & Joe VanDyke where there too, and they were outside waiting for their cab. I called Marina. Still crying but trying not to, to ask her if she could have someone check one more time to see if they came. When she answered, before I even had a chance to say anything else, she said, “Your documents from your husband came TODAY” THEN I bawled!!! She asked me if I was crying and I told her yes but good tears because they weren’t going to let me leave. THANK YOU GOD!!! Jenny saw me crying so explained the situation. She gave me a big hug, and thanked God too! I went straight to where Cathy & Tully & the kids were and told them. Cathy was cryin about as much as I was! Sheesh!!
UGH!! I am so happy that those crazy forms came! God is seriously watching out for us! I hope everyone else is doing ok because He has been really keeping His eye on me! LOL
On to the medical exams. Nothing major to report there. Tomorrow we pick up the visas at 2:00. We’ll see the VanDykes again then too. We are also on the same flight with them on Saturday. Another adopting Mom is also on our flight (not an RR one). We’ve been emailing, so I knew she would be on our flight. I met her at the Embassy today too she was going out as we were going in.
Thankfully, things today turned out the way they should have. It could have been an UGLY thing.
Even Later:
Destructo boy is in bed... he was so tired that he cried when I made him lay down and within about 10 seconds he was asleep! LOL
Nico just delivered the papers. Still thanking God for helping with that! Time to unwind a tiny bit before *I* go to bed too.
Thank you all for your prayers for us... please keep them coming!
I just have one thing to say.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU God!!! He truly is watching over you.

Hey Mel, I just got a message on my phone from God and He said for me to tell you that He is giving you all this experience so you can help out some nutbag cajun lady. He said to tell you He's really worried about her cause He's seen a lot of crazy in His years and she beats them all. He said she keeps saying, Please God, can Mel come to Russia with me?? I don't know who He could be talking about but just thought I would pass the message on to you. Let me know if you figure it out.... :)
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord for getting those papers there in the nick of time! And thank the Lord for melatonin, too! I take it every night, and when we brought Isabel home, it really helped us get her onto American time!
ReplyDeleteHi Mel!
ReplyDeleteSO glad everything worked out with your docs!!
Did you know.. that Timothy's birthday is the day after mine and Aaron Nalle's, and is on the same day as Lilya Zoromski's?? I just thought that was so cool! :)
Hope you can be home soon!

Wow, what an adventure, and you are almost there! Sounds like you and Katrina will be flying home from EE at the exact same time! They leave early Sat. morning, too! And at the same time, we'll be heading that way. :) Wish we were bringing our little one home, like you. Boo hoo.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you are able to leave, Mel!! Your post made my cry too!! What a journey you have been on. I will be thinking of you and praying for you on your journey HOME! The best part of the journey in my opinion! :)) Glad those papers came!!
ReplyDeleteHi from the other adoptive mom from the embassy! =) We had a similar experience with our documents. Last week when I was home I printed everything up and had our notary come and notarize my husband's signature on the medical waiver but somehow overlooked that he also needed to sign the I-600. Thankfully I realized it on Monday. He shipped it fed-ex on Monday afternoon and I've been anxiously tracking it all week. We needed it tomorrow by 2 and it was guaranteed to be delivered by 6. A little too close for my comfort- I want to go home on Saturday too!!! But my facilitator has a contact at Fed-Ex. She gave him our tracking number and it was delivered yesterday. Praise God that your documents made it too! Our interview appointment is today at 2 also, so I guess I'll see you there! If the weather clears up a bit and Vika is holding up okay, I hope to have the driver take us over to the SDA area shops. If we do end up going, you are welcome to ride along.
ReplyDeleteI have 4 words for you... MEL A TON IN... Give him some right before the plane ride. I swear by it. Jack was THE WORST SLEEPER EVER until I gave him this....once he developed good sleeping habits I quit and he still does great. Oh, and be careful coming home. The world needs good people like you.
