My poor littlest girl is sick. I just hate it when she is sick. Her little eyes water all the time, her nose runs, she gets bags under her eyes… she just feels miserable, and you can tell. She’s got a sore throat and a painful cough this time. I have been dosing her with tryaminic though and that seems to really be helping. Not sure if she’ll be able to go to church in the morning. SO hoping that she can though.
And here's where the title of this post comes from... although she is sick, or maybe because she is (hehe) she has a countdown going. Most children are counting the “sleeps” till Christmas. Not my sweetie… she is counting the sleeps till her DENTIST APPOINTMENT!!! LOL Yep, she is so excited to be going to the dentist this week that we’re counting the sleeps! She can’t wait to go and be the first in the chair so she can show Timothy how brave she is and that the big chair is not a scary place. Can you even stand how sweet that is!? She is such a treasure.
Today was the party for the kids of our city’s Fire Fighters. John has been on the FD for 9 years. He took the other kids to the party while I stayed here with Livi (we scrapbooked for a little while so she was ok with staying home from the party). He got the chance to show Timothy off to the other families. Timothy had a great time, and was charming and adorable too. hehe
It’s been a rough week. It’s probably going to get rougher this coming week. Rough time of year. Missing Dad… money issues… the loss of Joe’s iPod… the fact that my siblings still aren’t speaking to me…
Ya know what though? God is in control. He’s got this covered… *I* am the one that needs to let Him though. Way easier said than done lemme tell ya! LOL
When I think about the blessings that we have seen and received this year, it amazes me. Not just in my own little family, but in so so many others. So many angels coming home to their “Forever Families”. So many little ones who are growing, and blooming with the love of a Mama & Papa.
Then there’s our family… God’s provision for our adoption… the new friends that we have made in the process… the lives that we’ve seen changed… our precious little Timothy coming home… God is good.
Even now, being home almost a month, God continues His blessings. Today I received an email from another adoptive Mama. She and her family just adopted a beautiful little girl from EE, in fact, her Daddy and two older siblings are on their way to bring her home as we speak. The email made me cry. (Ok, I know, big surprise. hehe) She wanted to get Joe a new iPod. I was, and still am, just so amazed that this family would offer to do this for my son, whom they have never met. I told her, and I have said here before… I have learned through this journey that we’ve been on to accept graciously the help that is offered to me, to us. God leads people to give, or to help, or to listen, or to pray for others. Through blessing someone else, He blesses us. So, to my friend, I say again… THANK YOU.
And to God I continue to say THANK YOU for your love, and for sending me such wonderful friends, and for taking care of so many of our needs(even something as crazy as an iPod!), and for allowing me to be a blessing to my friends, and my husband, and my children.
Mel, again I tell you that I find you to be inspiring! What you and John have done is amazing! I am super emotional this evening - morning really and I tear up thinking about what you have done this year and I am still so amazed! I have been reminded time and time again through you that God is in control! Thank you for following God and listening to Him through it all!!
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty cute that she's counting down the sleeps until the dentist, lol!
ReplyDeleteHi, Mel!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't read for a few days, so I experienced the whole range of emotions from sadness about Joe's ipod (and a little righteous indignation at the thought of someone being so unkind as to steal it) to rejoicing at the goodness of God to provide a new one! Your blog has been such a delight to read, and I so appreciate your vulnerability. Isn't it amazing the perspective that a little orphan from EE can give to the fact that Christmas is about the eternal gifts that God has given us?! May you enjoy this precious week leading up to that blessed day where we celebrate the ultimate Gift!

Just said a little prayer for LaLa to feel better. Please remember Paisley and our family in your prayers. Although I don't say it, my heart is breaking everyday thinking of this Christmas without her. I have to be tough though, my family and my sweet children here are counting on me. Love ya Mel. Give Tman a kiss for me.
