Another First for Timothy... Pediatrician Visit

HA!  He didn’t think I was a nut case Renee!  hehe
Actually, he got me a referral to Iowa City to see a Geneticist at the Center for Disabilities and Development, which is exactly what I was hoping.    I’m also going to call the DS clinic back and see if I can get him in there since the other appointment is going to be a while.  They were scheduling appts 4-6 months out!  Eeep!  If we can get into the DS clinic sooner, maybe they can do the blood work, etc, and we won’t have to do it at the other place too and maybe they will get us in sooner.  Anyway, the ball is rolling, and the doc is not concerned about anything at all so there’s no real rush at the moment.   Whew!
We have an appointment in Ia City at the pedi ophthalmologist  in January.  That should be fun!  LOL  I wonder if they have anyone who speaks Russian babble… hehe
Timothy did very well at the appointment today.  He weighs 28.4 lbs and is 36 in tall (25% on the DS chart for both).  We need to get some meat on this boy’s bones… if he’d only EAT meat!  LOL   He checked out a few of the things that they told us at the orphanage that might be “wrong” with him, and none of them really was (undescended testicle, right breast odd growth, scoliosis, and a couple of other things I can’t think of right now).  All of these things are non-issues.  Another Whew!
He did recommend I call our AEA (area education agency) to get things set up with some OT/PT & Speech therapies.  I will do that in the morning.  Not that he really needs OT/PT but an evaluation can’t hurt, especially where he “should” go to Kindergarten next Fall.
I have to admit, taking my child to the doctor, and not knowing his "history" is a bit strange.  The one lady looked at me like I had two heads when I gave her back one of the forms (about the events of his birth) and I said, "Here's what I know".  LOL  I did follow up with "We just adopted him".  Hehe
He got 4 shots and did really well with them too!
After his appointment, we went down to the hospital pharmacy (2 floors down) to visit some ladies who work there (Hi girls!).  He charmed them of course, and they all think he is just adorable.  They have been following our journey so he was like a little celebrity!
Besides the usual laundry, house stuff, and kiddos, that’s about all there is to report from Iowa tonight!!

  1. Timothy, I want to apologize for your mom posting about your testicle and your boob. Mel, you're a good, albeit, thorough mom. Glad everything checked out.

    Love wins,
