I need a catchy title here... hehe

Yesterday afternoon my Mom and I were reflecting on the changes in Timothy since he has been home.  He is starting to really say things, some small words, mostly the first syllable of words.  He knows who each of us is, will point to each of us, and will say the first syllable of our “names”.  He is learning signs for the basic stuff (we sign and say the words).   He “understands” so much.  He is learning new things every day.  Today brought new games, and toys.  Each of them was a learning experience.  Eye/hand coordination, cause/effect, and just FUN!  hehe
While we were eating our goodies after supper, I leaned over to him and said “I love you my sweet little boy” in his ear.  He turned to me and planted a KISS right on my lips!!  He has given us kisses back when we kiss him, but this was the first time HE initiated!!  Is it any wonder why we love this little guy!?
When it’s bedtime, we have a routine.  Potty, (bath every other night because of his dry skin) wash up, change into jammies, brush teeth, snuggle a little, and then time to be tucked in.   He goes right to his bed when we say “It’s time to go to bed”, and crawls up and waits for his kisses and hugs.  I always whisper in his ear that I love him and God will watch him while he sleeps.  He smiles and just says “Da”.  LOL
When I think of where he has been, and where he might be if not for being here, it breaks my heart.  This little firecracker, who’s learning things every day.   Now that is NOT to say that there’s nothing “bad”, but those things seem to be overshadowed by the good most days.
Actually one of the not so good things was on Christmas Eve morning, he tossed a washcloth into the toilet as it was flushing.  NOT a good thing.  I thought it had gone on through but around mid evening it wasn’t flushing at all.  Of course, everything was closed by then, so we just had to plunge and pray.  LOL  Today I went out and got a drain snake, and John thinks he got it, and things are finally moving through again, so let’s hope because calling a plumber out is not in the budget.  Sigh…
Last night as I was passing our bedroom, I noticed that Timothy had put his shoes outside the door.   I opened it to make sure he had gone back to bed.  Here’s what I found:

He was completely asleep!  He didn't even wake
up when John put him back to bed!  LOL

  1. I wonder what the little guy was up to. I bet he was praying for his Aunt Renee to come up and see him. Or giving thanks that I live so far away.... :)

  2. Love this post! Axel has been home almost 2 weeks. I can't get over how much he has learned already! As a mom of a 14 year old who also has DS, THE best thing I've found for the dry skin problem is Aquaphore. It's the consistency of vaseline, but is water soluble so it absorbs into the skin. I call it the skin miracle cure. When Axel got home, his hands were HORRIBLE. Seriously, within 24 hours they were like new again. That said, I'm loving reading all the new things Timothy is doing. What a wonderful little guy he is.
