Brrrrr!! Blizzard warning!?

The first real snow of the year.  They say we’re in for about 2 inches, so nothing major (yet hehe).  We are under a blizzard warning until tomorrow afternoon though because of the wind and blowing snow.  Might be an interesting night!
John took the kids to the Library Christmas sing-a-long this morning while I had a class to do.  Kati took some pics but they aren’t the greatest.  LOL
After I got done with the class, I did the grocery thing.  It was raining… then it was sleeting… then it was snowing!
The photographer from The Hawkeye came today to do the photos for the follow-up story that will be in the paper about Timothy coming home.  I’ll post a link when it’s in the paper.
After supper, I locked myself in the bedroom (literally!  didn’t want anyone “accidently” walking in!!) to wrap some of the Christmas goodies.  I didn’t get much done though since it was almost time for the little ones to go to bed (Timothy sleeps in our room).   Still lots to do!
I think we’ll work on some baking tomorrow.  It’s only two weeks till Christmas (HOW did that happen!?), so I better get on the ball.  Kati is trying to talk me into doing something different this year.  Normally we have Christmas at our house, everyone comes here, we all make finger foods, bring cookies, candy, dips, crackers & cheese/summer sausage, and a couple of us make a big pot of some kind of soup, and we have sandwiches, and just sort of “graze” all day.  Since it looks like it’s just going to be the 6 of us this year + my Mom for some of the day (siblings still not speaking to me), Kati thinks we should have a “meal”.  Ham, sweet potatoes, etc, etc.  I dunno… I’ll run it by John and see what his vote is.
Christmas Eve I’ll make a Cuban dinner, roasted pork, black beans & rice, plantains… it’s a tradition in John’s family, and one that I am happy to carry on for ours.  His Mom used to come spend the holidays with us and would do all of the cooking… ohhhh my, what a treat it is to enjoy her cooking!!  I’ve tried to learn, but hers is always better of course!  Anyway, it was one of my Dad’s favorite meals too, so we always had Mom & Dad over for dinner with us.   Last year was a tough one without Dad, but Mom came over, and we had dinner, and then we decorated cookies, and she spent the night so she could be here when Olivia got up, and so she didn’t have to be alone at her house.   She was going to spend the night this year too, but she’s just coming really early Christmas morning because of our dog (whole other blog post!).  It will be fun since its Timothy’s first Christmas.
Ok, so today when I went to the bread store they had chocolate cupcakes (hostess) on sale (4 for a $1).  I got 4 packages of them for a treat for dessert.  Timothy went nuts!  LOL  He had it everywhere!  When he found the cream in the middle, I thought he would lose his little mind!!  He squealed because he was so excited!  hehe

Ooooh... I like chocolate... what's this? Cream filling? Woohoo!
Eh, who needs napkins when you got the back of your hand?
That was verrrrry good!!
Oh, more!

Olivia posing with her cupcake! Can you tell we don't get these very often?  LOL

  2. I love ya'll Christmas tradition. You should make some jalapeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon. Those are the bomb and the peppers aren't that hot once cooked. Write me if you want the recipe, they are so good and I don't like raw jalapenos at all. Timothy is in hog heaven with that cupcake, don't you love showing him new things!! Ok, love ya, gotta run.
