Here you go Renee!!

Hehe!!
I'm a little late posting tonight!!  I got caught up in the Ukraine RR chat!  I just love Monday evenings.  I missed them while I was in Ukraine.  It’s fun to learn from all of the Moms who have been there/done that… and even more fun to FINALLY be one of those who can answer the questions and give the tips!  Not that I know it all, but I learned some things while I was there.
Tonight we were watching a music awards show on tv while we were “settling down” to get ready for bed.  Somehow the two little ones decided that Mama’s lap in the recliner is a good place for that little period of time after the baths and teeth are brushed but before they are actually scooted off to bed.  So that’s what we do.   Anyway… while we were sitting here, Kati was on the couch, and a song came on the show that she likes and she was singing along with it.  Pretty soon, Timothy was “singing” too!  He was just sitting here bopping along to the music! Na La La Da Da Da Na  LOL He was so dang cute!!
I know I keep gushing about how amazed I am at his progress, maybe it’s the same for other kids, and other families.  Maybe this is the way it is for everyone who adopts.  Ok, I know that’s not true.  And I DO know that there can and likely will be issues but our “Honeymoon phase” has been so good.   He learns something new, or repeats something that he’s already learned and it’s so awesome to me.  I mean, it’s all so new, and he is doing so well.  Do we have problems?  Yep!  Do we have things we’re working on? Yep!  He still has some behavior issues that we need to keep working on (throwing things, grabbing glasses, yelling, etc)  We’ll take it one day at a time, and be just as blessed as all the other days.
I did set up Timothy’s initial doctor’s appointment this afternoon.  I had to find out if our family doctor would take him as a “new patient”.   He said he’d rather we went to a Pediatrician.  I knew that was a possibility, so I was fine with it, just wanted to check first.  I figured we’ll probably be going to Ia City primarily anyway for any treatments/tests/etc that he might need, but we still need someone local to see him.  So… next Tuesday at 9 am the fun begins!  I have to get my list of questions started.  There are things that they told us that he would need to be seen for once we were home, so I’ll have that list to share with the doctor.   I think I’ll call AEA in the morning and see what I need to do to get him set up with speech therapy etc.  Not sure if that goes through the Pedi. or not.  Can’t hurt to call.
I did  a little baking today, and got the laundry mostly done.  Gee… fun times! hehe
God is good!!  We are so blessed!!

  1. Sounds like he's doing great!! The behaviors will diminish over time as he tests every boundary there is. He has a great Mama to guide him!

Private speech therapy would need a script from his primary physician, otherwise speech is provided through your school district. Unless you're homeschooling, you need to call the district special ed office and let them know there is a new student in their district, his age, etc and they *should* get everything set up.
