I called a few places that people suggested, and bombed out on one place, but totally succeeded in finding an answer to our problem of WHERE to have our rummage sale. My Mom’s house! Yep, that’s where we’re doing it! I rented a MONGO sized tent (I made that word into an adjective, it works well there hehe) from a local company this morning. It will have “walls” that we can roll up or down in case of bad weather or whatever. It’s 20x30, so I think we should be able to get a BUNCH of tables in there, and spread things out quite well. The best part? They will deliver, set up, & tear down! YAY!!
I also borrowed another smaller tent from one of my daycare Moms for the bake sale & craft stuff (maybe) that we’ll have for sale. I have already talked to someone about being “in charge” of that part. My friend Erin is doing some calling around about “publicity” for it as well.
I’ve talked to several people who have offered to help with everything and a few others who have stuff for us to sell. YAY!!! It’s going to be a WONDERFUL DAY!!! I just know it is!!
AND… another friend Sara has set up a Volleyball tournament at our local Sport complex, the RecPlex for us for September 17 & 18. I’ll be working on fliers for that to put up around town, and letters to go out to churches, clubs, etc to recruit some teams to come and play. We’ll offer a cash prize for the 1st place team.
We’re also working on a Raffle, and have a few prizes lined up, and we’re praying for some other good stuff. This, like the sale, will be as awesome as we make it, and guess what? We’re gonna make it BIG!!!
I did call the USCIS today. The lady I spoke to wasn’t very helpful. She just said that our petition is still “under review”. That’s what it was the last time I called two weeks ago, and we got the request for more information letter the next day. So, I left a voicemail for our officer, again. I’ve written two emails so far with no response. Since it’s so late already, and Friday, I’ll have to wait to call Senator Harkin’s office on Monday, but if we haven’t heard something by then, I’ll call and see if they can get any answers for us.
It’s “tax free” weekend this weekend. Good thing too, the kids need new underwear for school… hehe
